Promotional Strategies
Developing promotional strategies for your business can seem time consuming and complex, however, this need not be the case. There are many ways that your business can benefit from simple and effective promotional means that save your business both time and money, yet maximize your sale potential. Many of these are tried and true means of generating more business and some are unique to particular niches.
The tried and true strategies tend to be trusted as they have been proven to work and lead to more sales. An example of tried and true strategies is complimentary gifts for your customers with purchase. There is no need to agonize over what particular gift that your target market receives when they purchase, as it is well known that any complimentary gift is well received. It does make sense to giveaway products that compliment your product or service, if you are a software company selling the latest development, it would make sense to giveaway a free CD zip bag or a USB flash disk with the software pre installed.
Another tried and true strategy is incentive products. This is particularly relevant to businesses that sell tier products or services. The example is; if you buy the base product you will get a pen, but if you buy the premium item, you will receive the state of the art corporate gift. This strategy encourages customers to buy the higher end items or services, rather than the base level that your business is selling.
So now that we have addressed stable, effective promotional strategies, let’s think outside the square for a minute. If your business has faith in the products and services that it is selling, it is sensible to stand out from the competition. Our example of an effective strategy stems from one of our customers in the concreting and construction industry. They decided that it would be helpful to give their workers some warm promotional clothing while working in the cold. They started with a small order of beanies, custom embroidered and jackets. They soon found that many of the other trades people on the sites that they were working on started to ask to wear the beanies, and they needed to order more. This soon escalated into a network of trade’s people all over the state wearing the beanies that this concrete company had personalized with their logo. This meant that builders, plumbers, electricians and brick layers were all walking around, with clear logo of the concrete company on their heads, and advertising the company by doing so. This soon led to so much work that the company had to employ more staff to keep up with the ever demanding jobs that kept arising. This promotional strategy encourages others to advertise for you, as a literal walking billboard. The strategy is similar to popular surfing clothes labels that have people buying their brand and walking around, prominently displaying it.
It does depend on the nature of your business as to how you can effectively put your message across, but even if you are an independent retailer, competing on a busy highway with other similar business, something as simple as an advertising inflatable balloon on your roof, can do wonders for your business. People do take notice of large objects with clear messages, and we have access to hundreds of inflatable products.
